Focal Point VR to Demonstrate Live Dual-8K Immersive Workflow on Bluebell Opticom Stand at IBC 2026
Live immersive media moves from proof of concept to production reality, with an end-to-end broadcast-grade VR demonstration on the Bluebell Opticom stand at IBC 2026.
London, 9th September 2026 – Focal Point VR (FPVR) will exhibit on the Bluebell Opticom stand at IBC 2026 Hall 10 Stand A.10 (10.A10) to demonstrate a live capture-to-headset immersive video workflow using IO Industries cameras, Bluebell fibre transport and FPVR real-time processing. IBC 2026, RAI Amsterdam, 11–14th September.
The demonstration combines a VR camera rig with dual 8K IO Industries cameras, signal transport over Bluebell Opticom fibre, real-time processing through Focal Point VR’s Stream Processor, and live playback in a VR headset — using production-grade components suited to professional sports, music and premium live event coverage.
The collaboration brings together:
- Focal Point VR’s ultra-high-resolution immersive camera design, real-time VR processing, Segmented Fidelity Streaming technology and headset playback workflow.
- Bluebell Opticom’s fibre connectivity infrastructure for reliable high-bandwidth video, audio, data and control signal transport in demanding live production environments.
- IO Industries’ broadcast-grade compact camera systems, used by Focal Point VR across a range of custom live-first VR rig configurations.
The viewer proposition is presence: allowing audiences to experience a live event from immersive viewpoints, with the potential to add programme feeds, graphics, data and interactive features in a headset-native environment. Focal Point VR’s modular architecture allows immersive workflows to be configured around each event, venue and production model, extending professional broadcast operations rather than imposing a one-size-fits-all solution.
FPVR’s Segmented Fidelity Streaming is designed to allocate available video quality more intelligently across the immersive image, maintaining detail in the areas that drive the viewer’s perception of quality while keeping live bandwidth requirements manageable.
“Live immersive media has moved beyond the question of whether the experience is compelling — the focus now is on making it practical, reliable and production-ready. This collaboration with Bluebell Opticom and IO Industries is important because it brings together the core elements needed for professional live immersive production: broadcast-grade ultra-high-resolution cameras, robust fibre transport, real-time VR processing and live headset playback. It demonstrates how immersive coverage can become a practical extension of premium sports and music production rather than a standalone technology test.”
— Jonathan Newth, CEO of Focal Point VR
“Reliable connectivity is fundamental to making immersive production work in real-world environments. High-bandwidth fibre infrastructure is ideally suited to transporting the video, audio, data and control signals required for next-generation live production. Working with Focal Point VR and IO Industries allows us to demonstrate how fibre can support an end-to-end immersive workflow in a practical broadcast setting.”
— Anil Parmar, Sales and Marketing Director at Bluebell Opticom
“Ultra-high-resolution immersive capture places significant demands on camera performance, latency, synchronisation and signal quality. We are pleased to be working with Focal Point VR and Bluebell Opticom to show how our compact broadcast-grade camera systems can support live immersive applications today and into the future.”
— Andrew Searle, Product Manager, IO Industries Inc.
The IBC 2026 demonstration will be relevant to broadcasters, rights holders, venues, music promoters, production companies and technology partners exploring new ways to deliver premium live event experiences, remote presence and fan engagement through immersive media. Visitors will be able to see the live workflow demonstrated on the Bluebell Opticom stand (10.A10). IO Industries will also be exhibiting in Hall 12, Stand 12.H29.
